    The a chemical stress test show “which artery” is blocked? I just had one and was told it was abnormal but the heart was squeezing & pumping alert fine so the cardiologist was confused it seemed but still was pushing for cath. She noted chart as abnormal stress test, severe risk. I’m 50, cholesterol is in range, no diabetes and inflammatory markers are all good. I opted for a CT angiogram and she said “okay with the understanding that the CT shows plaque & blockages large and you’d be headed to cath”. Well that’s up to me ultimately isn’t it?

    I have a question. I have a stent already from 2015. My doc has ordered the nuclear stress test to make sure I can have a safe knee replacement surgery. I’ve canceled the test because I’m afraid of a false positive. My husband went through it several years ago and they admitted him immediately and put a stent in. He is still mad about it. Is there another, less invasive way to clear me for surgery???

    I’d be pissed if I were Susan … with good ldlc I’d want to know why I had a heart attack. In 2024 with all this great imaging this cannot be a mystery. So, what were Susan’s ldlc/apoB/lp(a)/fxHDL/lp-pla2,a1c,homa-ir,tg bmi,age,ct.a, carotid ultrasound ? Seems like in this shared decision making process you didn’t really involve Susan and kept her in the dark. Maybe you begin the conversation with “this is why you had an MI” These cutesy “no information, do I say” videos doe t cut it anymore … shared decision making when you are not sharing and explaining pertinent data is pure fantasy. if you want to keep our interest and grow your channel we need facts .. back up your statin recommendation with data from Susan. I’m extremely pro statin and pro ezetimibe … I’m plant based and keep my ldlc at 30, apoB in low 40’s , apart from age 66 .. no risk factors .. if I had an MI .. I’d want to know why. Just saying “stains are good” is pointless, you started this channel ,for a reason, you must want to grow it or why bother .. remake this YT with “Susan’s” actually blood metrics and ct angiograms. If you don’t back up your position then you’re just sprouting dogma … I can get that from any primary or NP/PA. You’re a cardiologist - show us sow cardiologist smarts.

    I’m 66, my cardiologist wants me to take a stress test next year. I had a ct angiogram 3 yrs ago : “no vessel disease” calcium: Zero. I just ran a sub 60 10k .. I run 4mi/day and do CrossFit … WTF I’m also plant based and keep ldlc in low 30’s apoB in low 40’s lp(a) 6mg/dl. .. lp-pla2:60, NT-PROBNP: < 35 MPO:200. I take 10mg resu and 10mg eze … what’s he going to tell me … exercise “more” eat plants, take statins … I do all that .. and my lab measured vo2max is 50. If I ever get heart disease … I’ll be beyond p**** off.

    I am an 82 year-old female. I have been practicing those 10 heart healthy things for many years and have an excellent lipid profile, BM index 19.5, HBP less than 130/60, low LDL & high HDL cholesterol thanks to 10mg/day of Rosuvastatin. My triglycerides are low, I don't consume any sugar, exercise regularly, and eat a heart healthy diet. One problem is sleep. I don't sleep well and my HRV is often too low and unbalanced. Moreover, in spite of a Mediterranean diet, I have been pre-diabetic (5.6) for several years and have been diagnosed with stage 3A CKD. I had a calcium scan in 2018, it showed 23% blockage. After 6 years, I requested a 2nd calcium scan. LAD + RCA is now 426. So my heart healthy lifestyle hasn't really reversed my CAD! Next week I have a nuclear stress test. My DNA shows a higher than normal risk for CAD. I think much of this is genetic. Is it worthwhile to have a "preventive" stent or balloon?

My LDL has consistently gone done over 15 years to now 115 and all other lipid functions have stayed virtually the same, all within the normal ranges. I hike, kayak and am active and never had any pain. My question is WHY did it go up so dramatically ? My BP has been the same under control with a minimum of meds. When I was younger (40s) my BP was always low.

      Investigate your foods to see if you can be including anything that is inflammatory such as seed oils, grains, sugar, and multi-ingredient processed, etc. I would even include cooking with olive oil, but there are arguments about that. The previous items are what I attribute my heart attack at age 75. Your system is repairing something?, but why, etc. Good luck.

    Unfortunately, this was not helpful at all. My 84-year-old mom is miserable on the calcium channel blocker which has terrible side effects as well. She is not overweight and eats healthy. You mentioned people pushing supplements… What about doctors pushing harmful drugs from big Pharma and not clearly communicating the negative side effects or how you have to be careful about getting off of them once you've started? Western medicine is absolutely no better at communicating openly.

    I read there was a study done on a large group of people that starved to death and an interesting thing noted in the autopsies were that all of them had perfectly clear arteries. This seems to indicate that fasting reduces arterial plaque and calcium. I've done a pure water fast for 7 full days and both times my blood pressure dropped very low, like 95/65 but I felt perfectly fine. My blood pressure tends to get high, around 145/90, but I keep it under control with Indian Snakeroot herb and within 1 to 3 days it's always back to normal and stays normal for about a week. I currently take Indian Snakeroot about 1 to 2 times per week as maintenance as needed.

    • @incognitotorpedo42
      @incognitotorpedo42 14 дней назад

      That's a good question. A couple reasons why it might help are that the siRNA therapy lowers lp(a) a lot better than niacin, and because the siRNA approach is extremely targeted, there should be little or no off-target effects. High dose Niacin, on the other hand, could have a lot of systemic effects, not all of which are guaranteed to be good.

My LP (a) is 85 dl and I have had 3 mild strokes , so a relatively low LP(a) level does not lessen the risk of stroke, at least for me. Being placed on a statin did lower my LDL to 77 from 104 which hopefully should reduce my risk of another stroke a little better. I am also eating a strict vegan diet with next to no saturated fat.

      I just got tested at age 66 for LPa and its 486. no strokes or HA so far. I quit my statin after 4 years due to knee pain and neuropathy. I'm on low carb but that has increased my LDL to 255 (from like 180 pre-statin level). LDL on statin was 89 but couldn't tolerate that pain.

    Is it true soluble fats from meat is good fat leading to low triglycerides. Why are they saying no red meats due to oxalates? Very confusing,
